The EdTech Funders CoLab and Age of Learning Foundation, cordially invite you to a vibrant, interactive discussion exploring ways to support education in a time of technological change.
Join us for a vibrant and interactive discussion facilitated by Mike Trucano.
The world is experiencing a technological revolution, but students and teachers are not adequately prepared and supported to succeed in this rapidly changing world. The most recent Global Education Monitoring (GEM) report asserts that the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4, ‘quality education’, is dependent on opportunities and challenges posed by technology.
What to do?
Few would deny that the use of new technologies in education can play important roles in ensuring access to quality educational opportunities, but this process can bring with it acute concerns about equity, opening up new ‘digital divides’ as new technologies are developed and deployed to aid teaching and learning. At the same time, rapid technological developments in fields such as artificial intelligence are challenging policymakers, educators and families as they seek to separate related ‘hope from hype’.
While we know more than we used to, the chequered impact of using technology to support remote learning during the pandemic, and many high profile edtech ‘failures’ in the recent past, suggest we may not have all of the answers on how to use technology effectively, efficiently, and equitably in education.
Indeed: Are we even asking the right questions?
The EdTech Funders CoLab, together with Age of Learning Foundation, is bringing together a uniquely diverse set of voices and perspectives — from philanthropies, governments, civil society and the technology industry. We’ll be inviting this group to tell us what the ‘Big Questions’ are and inspire collective action and investment to support education going forward in a time of technological change.
Join us for a vibrant and interactive discussion, facilitated by Mike Trucano, a visiting Fellow in the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution, where he explores issues related to effective and ethical uses of new technologies in education.
