Purpose of Evaluation

At the Age of Learning Foundation, we prize monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning because of the knowledge, value, significance, and improvement they bring to the strategies, initiatives, and programs we employ to fundamentally improve learning for all children in low- and lower-middle-income countries.

We neither use, nor encourage our evaluators, education ministry partners, schools, implementing partners, funders, communities, and other stakeholders to see or use evaluation as a form of judgment.

We instead rely upon evaluation to help us measure the right things in the right ways, communicate the results clearly, and become increasingly efficient, effective, impactful, and sustainable in the work we do.

All our work is therefore driven by evaluative thinking that recognizes the importance of discovery, dialogue, reflection, learning, and improvement.
